Counting Puffins

It is time to count puffins.  Every five years the National Trust (UK) rangers conduct a puffin census on the Farne Islands.  The birds return to these islands off the northeast coast of England to breed.  The Farne Islands offer food sources, few ground predators, and good nesting protection.  Despite those good conditions the puffin population is declining.  See more images here.
